Tiruchy youth stage road roko to express solidarity
Expressing solidarity to the ongoing farmer protest in New Delhi, and against the proposed hydrocarbon project in Neduvasal, youngsters staged a road block on Wednesday on the Uyyakondan bridge, the spot where the jallikattu protests were held. As many as 22 youth were detained by the police.

Following a message on the social media inviting youth to participate in a massive sit-in protest, youth from various parts of the district gathered near the Anna Nagar link road. They wanted the hydrocarbon project to be dropped to save the livelihood of Neduvasal farmers. With placards supporting the Neduvasal farmers protest and ongoing protest in New Delhi by Tamil Nadu farmers seeking constitution of Cauvery Management Board, the youth squatted on the road. This affected vehicular movement.
Cantonment police personnel intervened to clear traffic. As a precautionary measure, the protesting youth were detained and taken to a nearby public hall in Thillai Nagar.
