Demonetised currency seized from Kerala duo
Two days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) nullified the old Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes, the Coimbatore City Police seized demonetised currencies from a duo from Kerala at Kalapatti in Coimbatore during the early hours of Sunday.

A police officer said that they spotted the vehicle with Kerala registration crossing the check post on Kalapatti Road twice and stopped them and found the stock of currencies in two bags.
They told the police that they were travelling from Bengaluru to Chennai to get the currencies exchanged, at the RBI. They claimed that they had lost the way and had accidentally driven to Coimbatore. The duo, hailing from Thrissur in Kerala was identified as Shibu (38) and Joseph alias Jose (41).
Saravanampatti Police seized the notes and booked them under sections 5 and 7 of the Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Ordinance, 2016, read with section 65 of the Tamil Nadu City Police Act. They were lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison under judicial custody.
