The Income Tax team landed at the doors of brothers — Vishwanathan and Santhappan, who run SLN group. Mysuru police provided elaborate security during the raids on the premises of the former union minister’s relatives.
So secretive were the raids that the police were oblivious to the identity of the businessmen. It was only after they arrived at the SLN Coffee Limited and other properties, including a coffee estate owned by the group, that the police realised the identity of their targets.
“The cars in which the Income Tax team travelled were decorated with flowers as a ruse,” said a Income Tax sleuth. Sources said the sleuths had seized crucial documents, which are being examined.
