Meanwhile, a Coimbatore Court on Monday convicted his father-in-law Sundaram (63) in connection with a cheating case dating back to 2011. Vijaya Baskar is married to Sundaram’s daughter Ramya.
The case was based on a complaint by Duraisamy (68), the son of his father’s first wife. Judicial sources said that Sundaram’s father Muthusamy, mother Saraswathi and brother Dhanapalan (58) and Duraisamy had a joint business partnership agreement executed on December 27, 1980. But without cancelling it the four others excluded Duraisamy and executed another agreement on July 1, 1981.
Duraisamy lodged a complaint with the Race Course police in this connection in 2001, based on which Muthusamy, Saraswathi, Sundaram and Dhanapalan were booked under various sections.
On completion of the trial, JM-III VP Velusamy on Monday sentenced Sundaram and his brother Dhanapalan to three years RI and slapped a fine of Rs. 20,000 on both of them.
