Director of Postal Service (Southern Region) Nirmala Devi released it and Joint Commissioner and Executive Director of Meenakshi Sundareswar Temple Jeyaraman received it.
“Great effort has been put in by the department to make the presentation pack. Each of the 18 cards carries a unique picture of the Chithirai Festival. It is either related to Meenakshi or Kallazhagar,” explained Nirmala Devi. The pictures include entry of Lord Kallazhagar into Vaigai River and Goddess Meenakshi’s ‘Dig Vijayam’. She also said, “In the back of each card a water mark picture is attached and the picture is also connected to the Chithirai Festival.”
The stamp on each card is also related to the picture on the respective card. “If the card has the picture of Meenakshi’s Dig Vijayam, a women empowerment stamp is attached and in the card depicting her procession on a golden horse, a horse stamp is attached,” the official said. It can be used for greeting purposes and can accommodate the address of the receiver alone. The limited-edition presentation pack costs Rs 500.
