A senior DMK leader confirmed that the party has planned to host the VVIPs at a star hotel in MRC Nagar. The party estimates that nearly 100 people would attend the luncheon meeting when DMK working president MK Stalin would break bread with Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader D Raja, chief ministers Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Navin Patnaik (Odisha) and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, NCP leader Sharad Pawar, National conference leader Farooq Abdullah and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, besides senior DMK leaders.
From upcoming Presidential election to beef slaughter regulation and Kashmir issue, the leaders might discuss a host of issues before starting to the YMCA Grounds where the non-NDA leaders would launch their offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP. This meeting on June 3 would be the second such meeting of the emerging secular formation which last met at Sonia Gandhi’s behest in the national capital to discuss its onslaught against the BJP in the Presidential election. Going by the statement from the DMK high command, the dignitaries might have to be content with feasting with Stalin while nonagenarian M Karunanidhi would be resting in his Gopalapuram residence.
