CM lays foundation for Rs 484 cr water supply scheme for Erode
The foundation stone for Rs 484 crore Ooratchikottai water supply scheme to cater to the needs of the town was today laid by Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy.

Water from Cauvery would be drawn at Ooratchikottai near Bhavani, about 25 km from here, treated and supplied to the residents, he said.
Similarly, he said a flyover would be built at a cost of Rs 54 crore at the government headquarters hospital junction to ease the traffic menace.
The Chief Minister said more than Rs 850 crore worth of works had been completed in Erode district within a year and now Rs 900 crore worth works were in progress.
Referring to the issue of sand mining, he assured that public would get sand for their construction works as the government had taken over its supply.
School Education Minister K.A Sengottiyan, Local Administration Minister S.P. Velumani, Environment Minister K.C Karupannan and local MPs, MLAs also spoke.
Former minister and AIADMK (Amma) MLA Thoppu N Venkatachalam was conspicuous by his absence at the Chief Minister's function.
Venkatachalam, who represents nearby Perundurai in the assembly, had recently met AIADMK Amma Deputy General T T V Dinakaran, being opposed by the Palanisamy camp.
Last month also he did not attend a function of the Chief Minister at Chitode in the district and chose to be present at a real estate dealers association meeting.
