Stating that it is unfair on the part of the Supreme Court for having passed such an order, Dr G R Ravindranath of the Doctors’ Association for Social Equality (DASE), said, “The main reason for the stay in declaring the results was due to the fact that the questions differed in each language. There was no level-playing field and the Central Government should intervene.”

The state should convene an Assembly to pass a resolution to pressurise the Central Government to get the President’s assent for the two bills that were passed in the assembly, he added. Stressing on the disparity that exists as a result of the test, vice chancellor, Bharath University said, “Though a good principle, it is not implemented correctly. It is highly unfair for the students and their parents who have been unsure of what step to take from the very introduction of the Common Entrance Test.” With the judgment having been passed only on Monday, the Directorate of Medical Education will have to issue the applications.

“Only after we receive instructions from the state government can we prepare the prospectus, after which, we will issue applications,” said Director of Medical Education, Dr Edwin Joe.
