Kovai office attack: Left MP blames RSS
Senior Marxist leader and Rajya Sabha MP TK Rangarajan alleged, on Monday, that the incident of hurling petrol bomb at the party office in Coimbatore at Gandhipuram in the city might have the backing of members of the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

After inspecting the attack site, the MP petitioned the commissioner of police to expedite the inquiry into the incident and nab the culprits at the earliest. He linked the attack on the party office to the recent speech by BJP national president Amit Shah.
“He (Shah) openly said that CPM were their opponents. We are ready to be ideological opponents,” he said and added that they did not expect such assaults and attacks.
“They (BJP) think they can win the support of the people by unleashing terror and repeating the February 14, 1998, blasts and riots in Coimbatore that left 58 persons dead and more than 200 injured. Now people are more conscious. They cannot gain public support this way,” he empathetically said.
