Justice T Raja, who allowed the writ petition, filed by George, in his order, said, “Rejecting his candidature on the ground that he is working in an autonomous institution discharging a similar nature of duty is wholly illogical. To put it otherwise, once a person found eligible on the basis of his qualifications and experience, whether he is working in an autonomous institution or Public-Sector Undertaking cannot be the criteria.”

“Therefore, rejecting the candidature of the petitioner is wholly untenable, unreasonable and will not pass the test of Article 14 of the Constitution,” the judge said.
