The arrests come just three months after four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by Tirupur police in April when they tried to apply for Aadhaar using forged documents.
The persons who were arrested on Tuesday were identified as Mohammed Babu (27) and Mohammed Mamun (22) of Soyadbur Village, RazonmIa Sardar (22) of Chadpur Village, Mohammed Sahadatt (28) of Peru Village and Ashik Shobik (20) of Khaluna District. They left Bangladesh in May and managed to reach India amidst difficulties via West Bengal.
With the help of their friend Thaluvar Hussain who came to India on April 31 they approached a broker in West Bengal to get them a job. The broker sent them to Tirupur in June, where they got help from contractor Yasin Kaji from West Bengal to get a job in a textile unit in the city last week. On Saturday, the contractor while distributing weekly salary to employees asked for their identity proof.
But they not only failed to produce the proofs but also threatened the contractor not to let out the information. On Monday, the issue reached the police who detained six men from Bangladesh who were working at the textile unit. They were quizzed for more than 12 hours and confirmed that except one, none had proper records. They also realised that the other five had nothing to do with any antisocial activity. It is learnt that all of them were from financially backward families and had come in search of jobs.
Tirupur North police arrested and produced them before the judicial magistrate. They were then taken to the Puzhal prison.
