DMK working president M K Stalin on Sunday dared Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to order a probe into the Kudimaramathu (maintenance of water bodies) done in the AIADMK regime.
Stalin was responding to Palaniswami’s public accusation during MGR’s birth anniversary celebrations that the DMK was trying to fish in troubled waters by politicising farmers’ issue. Condemning his remarks, Stalin sought to know if the Chief Minister was prepared to order an inquiry into the Kudimaramathu done in the state. Taking a potshot at the Chief Ministers’ claim that Kudimaramathu works to the tune of Rs 100 crore were undertaken in the AIADMK regime, the Leader of Opposition asked if the Chief Minister could prove that the works were not awarded to the AIADMK men.
Suggesting that the CM should have kept calm, if he were not generous enough to appreciate the desilting works done by the DMK, Stalin accused Palaniswami of threatening officials not to allow the DMK men to desilt the PWD maintained tanks.
He further said, “It is an accident that such a person has become the Chief Minister of the state.” Stalin, in a statement, also asked why Palaniswami had intimidated the DMK men and officials and got him arrested on his way to Kacharayan Tank in Salem.
“AIADMK cadre, people and everyone, who believe in democracy know that Palaniswami was fishing in troubled waters,” remarked Stalin, making a near elaborate mention of the various desilting works completed in the previous DMK regime.
Recalling the AIADMK regime’s failure to get Prime Minister’s appointment for agitating Tamil Nadu farmers led by Ayyakannu a few months ago, Stalin reminded the CM that it was his government that had moved a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Madras High Court order providing for waiving of all farm loans. Not failing to mention the various scams the ruling AIADMK was mired in, Stalin cautioned that the incumbent regime had taken the state 20 years backward and the DMK would not hesitate to pull down Palaniswami’s government.
