3 murdered in separate incidents near Kovai
Three persons were murdered in separate incidents at Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore on Tuesday. At Tirupur, an autorickshaw driver surrendered before the police after murdering his wife. The accused and victim were identified as Sekar (43) of Thirukovilur in Villupuram district and his wife Indira Gandhi (33).

The couple has two sons staying in a hostel at Tiruvannamalai. It is learnt that the couple moved to Tirupur a year ago and was living in Velampalayam. On Monday, Sekar brought his sons to Tirupur and the boys were shocked to see their mother dead. Sekar surrendered before the police and confessed to the crime. The police quoted him as saying that he had smothered her using a pillow and also strangulated her with a saree. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
In another incident, the decomposed body of a man suspected to have been hacked to death was found in an open drain in Coimbatore city, on Tuesday evening. Ramanathapuram police retrieved the body that was found cut in three pieces and abandoned in a sack. Efforts are on to identify the accused.
K Velusamy (38), a farm labourer of Ramapuram near Sathyamangalam in Erode district was found dead near Ramapuram cross road on Tuesday. The police said that the man did not return home from work on Monday. On Tuesday, Sathyamangalam police got a tip-off that a man was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Police suspect that he could have been beaten to death over a drunken brawl. Search is on for the accused.
