After Kamal tweeted about poor quality eggs were being distributed to the children in Perambalur, as an evidence of a scam, the tweet went viral.

Subsequently, the Collector, who inspected the Perambalur Muthunagar Union Primary School on Tuesday afternoon, told reporters that the charges about the rotten egg supply were baseless and said that the cooks were already instructed to inspect the eggs by placing them in water before boiling.

“Those eggs, which were photographed, were isolated ones to be returned to the supplier and the fans of actor Kamal Haasan had taken photos of those discarded eggs and sent them to the actor,” the Collector claimed.

Meanwhile, the district Kamal Narpani Mandram president Muthukumar claimed that a 10-member team from the fans club inspected the anganwadis and government schools located in Perambalur town, Alathur and Veppanthattai and confirmed that substandard eggs were being provided to the children. On learning about our inspection, the officials have replaced those rotten eggs, Muthukumar said.
