Sasi Kumar murder case accused arrested
The Special Investigation Division (SID) of the CB-CID on Tuesday arrested an accused for his alleged involvement in the murder of Hindu Munnani (HM) functionary Sasi Kumar on September 22, 2016. The accused has been identified as Saddam Barkathullah (27) of KK Nagar in Saibaba Colony, Coimbatore.

Sasi Kumar who was HM’s media relations coordinator for Coimbatore was hacked to death when he was on his way to his house at Thudiyalur after attending a party meeting during the late hours of September 22.
The murder was initially investigated by the Thudiyalur police attached to the Coimbatore District Police. It was then transferred to the CB-CID on September 27 and they ascertained the role of Mubarak and Saddam. But the duo could not be secured.
According to a press release from the Coimbatore City Police the CB-CID received specific information on the whereabouts of Saddam at Karumathampatty at the outskirts of the city.
A special team formed by the Superintendent of Police of the SID S Rajeshwari. It zeroed in on Saddam and arrested him at Karumathampatty around 4 pm on Tuesday. Sources said he will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate in Coimbatore on Wednesday.
