Four held, 1.05 kg ganja seized in Pondy

Police arrested four persons and seized 103 packets of Ganja weighing 1.05 kilograms, on Friday

Senior Superintendent of police Rajiv Ranjan in a release here on Saturday said that after the seizure of two kilograms of Ganja from different areas here in the last few months, police kept a vigil on the sale of Ganja. He further added that a Special Task Force has been constituted for this purpose. 

Meanwhile, police received information last evening that some Ganja peddlers were found to be roaming at Thilaspet area. Immediately,a police team led by Superintendent of police (North) Rachna Singh rushed to the spot and found four persons selling Ganja. The four managed to escape and were later apprehended. They were identified as Arulraj (29) of Nellithoppe, Surya (20) of Thirukkanur, Nithyanandam (33) of Periyar Nagar and Pradeep (21) of Ougret. 

Two motor cycles and three mobile phones also were seized from their possession.

Nithyanandam is a notorious criminal who is involved in cases of murder and hurt. Police officials are on the look out for two others, Lurudu and Ashok, who are absconding, Ranjan said.
