The minister on Wednesday joined several of his cabinet colleagues against the actor while most of those from the Opposition supported him.

Udhayakumar was apparently irked when reporters brought up the topic of Kamal’s tweets on Independence Day, one of which indirectly demanded Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanniswami’s resignation.

“We’ve been running the government in the absence of our late chief minister and party supremo J Jayalalithaa. Kamal thinks that he can stoke some controversy and use it against the government. His wish to fish in troubled waters will not be fulfilled,” Udhayakumar said.

Kamal on Tuesday tweeted – “If one State’s CM should resign for a mishap and corruption under his govt. How come no party calls for resignation in TN. Enough crimes done”.

“My aim is a better Tamilnadu. Who dares to strengthen my voice? DMK AIADMK & parties R tools to help. If those tools R blunt find others”, read another one.

Cooperatives Minister Sellur K Raju, had earlier, advised actors Kamal and Rajinikanth not to take a political stance for their own good as there is a list of actors Sivaji Ganesan, Bhagyaraj, and T Rajendar, among others who failed to garner public support after joining politics in their effort to follow the footsteps of AIADMK founder MGR.
