Anne Vijaya, SP Tiruchy Railways, said that since the students mentioned in the suicide notes were minors, the railway police recommended the Juvenile Justice Board in Tiruchy to counsel them.

She also claimed that the girls took the extreme step out of frustration after they were teased by their classmates, including the boys.

She also said that the incident was brought to the notice of the head master Thangavel who had just warned them and failed to follow it up.

The education department had asked the headmaster to go on a long leave as the villagers were angered by his negligence.

The students who were earlier boycotting the class are now gradually attending it after policemen and education authorities held consultation with all the children and the parents. Police authorities said that the way with which the case will be dealt with will be decided after the Juvenile Justice Board completes its report.
