OPS camp confident MLAs won’t topple government
Even as Vetrivel, a loyalist of TTV Dinakaran, announced late on Monday night that the legislators supporting the sidelined deputy general secretary will meet the Governor on Tuesday triggering speculations that the entire group may resign in protest, a senior functionary of the OPS camp expressed the confidence that no MLA would attempt to topple the government.

Former minister C Ponnaiyan, who was a key player in the OPS camp, while reacting to the statements of MLAs supporting Dinakaran, said, “Within minutes of the merger when Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam joined hands and paid respects to the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at her memorial on the Marina, deputy coordinator of the AIADMK and parliamentarian P Vaidyalingam announced at the party headquarters that ‘the party will soon initiate steps to remove VK Sasikala from her post.”
“The party’s supreme body, the general council, will be soon convened to act on this matter. However, the date as to when the GC will be convened is yet to be decided,” he said.
Sources said that hectic parleys between the OPS and EPS camps took place over the weekend, due to former chief minister O Paneerselvam lead AIADMK (PTA)’s insistence on his main demand of ouster of Sasikala and her family from the party.
