“As EPS has lost the faith of the public and us, we are withdrawing our support to EPS government” the letters stated and called on the Governor to act in his constitutional capacity. Speaking to reporters, Dinakaran supporter and Andipatti MLA Thangatamilselvan said that they only wanted to change the CM and not topple the government.
“Let them make OPS or anybody else Chief Minster, but how can they even think of removing Chinnamma (VK Sasikala) from the general secretary’s post as without her there would not be any AIADMK government? Do they not have a conscience? God will surely punish them for this deed. EPS was made Chief Minister on Chinnamma’s request,” he added.
Their ire also stemmed from the fact that while OPS and his 9 MLAs were invited for the merger, the 19 pro Dinakaran MLAs were not extended an invitation. Asked if they would come if called for talks, he said, “When did we ever say we would not.”
Stating that party cadre were pained by OPS volte face after calling the EPS government corrupt and threatening to agitate in front of the Secretariat, Thangatamilselvan added the world knows that OPS was responsible for freezing the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol and voting against the EPS.
