4 TN fishermen arrested by SL Navy
Four fishermen from Mandapam in Ramanathapuram district were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy, on Thursday. In another incident, four fishermen who were struggling for help in a drowning boat were rescued by Sri Lankan Navy and taken for treatment.

Both the incidents happened near Delft islands and fishermen who used banned gill nets were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy.
The arrested fishermen were identified as Muthu Irulan, Ravi, Sekar and Muthukrishnan (all from Mandapam). They were handed over to officials of Fisheries Department at Jaffna. They were then taken to court and remanded till September 14.
In another incident, boat of four Rameswaram fishermen suffered serious damage and began to sink. A fast attack craft attached to Sri Lankan Navy patrolling the sea saw the boat in distress and rescued it. The four fishermen were then taken to Kankesanthurai and admitted to a naval hospital for treatment. Steps were then taken to hand them over to Indian embassy officials.
In the meantime, 76 Tamil Nadu fishermen were taken to court, given release orders and handed over to Indian embassy officials. At present there are eight Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan prisons, including the four arrested fishermen, on Thursday.
