Addressing the media, RK Selvamani, president, FEFSI, said, “We have compromised various issues with the producers after the last strike. However, there is still a payment issue of over Rs 20 lakh for FEFSI workers due from producers. We feel neglected and are disappointed.”
Being a director and the president of FEFSI, I know what the industry is currently going through. Hence we have decided to go on an indefinite strike from today.”
Selvamani also said that the union will protest against the Producers’ council in Chennai on September 5. FEFSI further went on to ban the release of Vijay Sethupathi’s Puriyaatha Puthir. A source from the industry told DT Next, “This movie by FEFSI is unfair. Why would someone ban a movie made on a budget of Rs 2 crore for a pending amount of Rs 22.13 lakh.”
It is to be noted that Superstar Rajinikanth advised FEFSI to withdraw their strike as it will affect several families who are dependent on the industry. The Producers’ council is yet to react on this issue.
