While all the leaders of political parties visited Kuzhumur to pay their respects, Stalin was said to have participated in a meeting in Mumbai. However, Anitha’s family waited for the arrival of Stalin, whom she had met before approaching the court and sought his support.

Meanwhile, Stalin who charged both Centre and state as responsible for her death, reportedly informed the local leaders about his willingness to visit Kuzhumur and pay his last respects and so the funeral was scheduled after his visit.

“It is unfortunate that Anitha has lost her life and Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar, Health Secretary Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami are responsible for her death.

All the three and the union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman should resign immediately,” Stalin told the reporters.

He also said, had the state government started admission through counselling by setting aside the NEET eligibility, the student would not have taken the extreme step.

DMK to give Rs 10 lakh

The DMK will disburse a sum of Rs 10 lakh as a compensation to the family of Anitha. No AIADMK ministers or functionaries came to Kuzhumur as villagers opposed their visit.
