The boy, studying in a school at Nadayanur near Velayuthapalayam, had informed his friends about the challenge, who, in turn, immediately alerted their teachers and hence the boy could be saved. He had informed his friends that he had already drawn an image of the Blue Whale on one of his hands with a blade.

According to one of his friends, the boy appeared unusually depressed and upon insistence, revealed that he was asked to complete the task of running towards a moving train early on Tuesday morning.

After the friends informed the teachers, they immediately contacted the education department officials and the police. Subsequently, the officials rushed to the school and stopped him. They also called up his parents and asked them to keep an eye on him.
