Cops ‘spoil’ robbers goat feast

In an interesting incident, the Tiruverumbur police arrested a gang of three persons on Wednesday, while they were cooking a stolen goat in a secluded place. Investigation revealed that they were habitual goat thieves and had stolen at least 100 goats in and around Tiruchy.

It is said, residents of Ayyampatti village near Thuvakudi had noticed a gang of eight members were cooking meat in a secluded place and when they inquired them, villagers found that they had stolen a goat and were cooking it, also they were planning to sell the remaining meat. Soon they passed on the information to the police and they rushed to the spot. 

However, on seeing the police, five persons from the gang escaped while the remaining three members were arrested by the police. The police also had seized the raw and cooked meat. The gang members were identified as G Suresh (25), G Chandra Mohan (24) and Nagarajan (26) from Thuvakudi. 

The accused confessed to the police that they used to steal goats in and around Tiruchy districts and are in the habit of cooking the meat and feasting on it. They had also confessed that they had stolen at least 100 goats. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
