Dinakaran, CM locked in war of words

With the government falling short of a simple majority after 19 MLAs turned against the merger of the two warring factions, a war has been raging since then due to the intra-party feud between Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and ‘sidelined’ TTV Dinakaran, who is the nephew of jailed and ousted interim general secretary VK Sasikala.

The sparring between the two camps hit a new low on Saturday with both saying that they would send the other to ‘Maamiyaar Veedu’ (prison).

Addressing a public meeting, Palaniswami said that Dinakaran would soon go to ‘Maamiyar Veedu’, meaning he would be sent to jail. “Amma’s soul will not forgive anyone who has acted against the interest of the party. Even Dinakaran will not be spared’’, the Chief Minister said. He added that his government would complete its term.  On the other hand, Forests Minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan, speaking at a meeting, blamed the Sasikala family for the death of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

He alleged that Sasikala did not allow anybody to enter Jayalalithaa’s room when she was admitted claiming that she was suffering from a communicable disease. If that was the case, Sreenivasan asked, then why were Sasikala and her family escape from the disease as they had entered the room. “Sasikala and her family purposefully delayed the treatment to Amma and made her death look natural She murdered her”.

By not allowing anyone to meet her during her 75-days of hospitalisation, including Union Minister Arun Jaitley and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, fearing that ‘Amma’ would tell the truth, Sasikala allowed Jayalalithaa’s infection to get intensified and die, said the minister. Meanwhile, speaking to the media at his house, Dinakaran — who had vowed to oust the present government with a week — said that he had gone to jail several times and this time it would certainly be Palaniswami’s term to go to ‘Maamiyar Veedu’.

Reacting to Palaniswami’s remarks, he said “My hands are clean and I do not have any corruption charges against me. They (EPS camp) are scared that they will lose power if I am outside, which is why they are trying to put me behind the bars but they will not succeed,” he said.
