PMK welcomes MHC order on NLC job offer

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has welcomed the Madras High Court judgment, which has directed the government to provide employment for families whose lands were acquired for Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC).

Founder of PMK, Dr S Ramadoss, in a statement on Saturday, said, “PMK is happy about the verdict. The NLC was established after people from 23 villages sacrificed their houses and agricultural lands. They only hope that the area would be developed and employment opportunities created after NLC established.” But, people, who provided lands were not given jobs, he said.

The PMK leader recalled the various protests staged by his party to resolve the issue and added that after talks with the Cuddalore district collector, in which the district administration agreed to provide jobs. “However, NLC flouted the agreement which led Jeeva Labour Association file a case,” he added.
