Quantum released for Pushkaram did not help cultivation: Farmers

Farmers are upset with the release of 10,000 cusecs from Mettur dam for the Cauvery Maha Pushkaram

during a period that would not help in cultivation.

They claimed that poor storage of rain water had already added to their agricultural woes.

The farmers said that out they had already lost their short term Kuruvai crop for the straight sixth year as

Karnataka did not release water. Meanwhile, officials from the Public Works Department said that the government is yet to decide on a date to release water for the irrigation of samba crop.
