In the first incident in Salem district, the photograph of a woman was replaced by actress Kajal Aggarwal’s. The incident was followed by other smart cards being released with images of Lord Ganesha and slippers.

In the latest incident, the beneficiary, Dayal Sulthan Kadhar Rowthar, had received his card on Monday and was shocked to see the picture of the Indian Flag in place of his photograph.

The affected person told the media on Tuesday that he knew about the Kajal Aggarwal gaffe as he had seen it on television, but did not expect the same would happen to him. He immediately reported the matter to the officials of Civil Supplies Department who promised to rectify it as soon as possible. Rowthar added that his name has been spelt incorrectly on the smart card and that he has applied for correction as well.
