Revathy Kailairajan, in her writ of Mandamus, had stated that according to special rules of appointment of DME, the person to be appointed as DME should have at least one year left for retirement and should have worked as a Dean for at least two years. The DME should also be the senior most in Civil Medical list.
But the rules were not followed in the appointment of DME and favouritism was shown to Edwin Joe while appointing him as DME. Also, Edwin Joe has lesser experience as a Dean when compared to her. So, she had prayed the Court to quash his appointment and to direct the government to appoint her as DME.
When the petition was heard by Judge, Mahadevan, he had stated that Revathy Kalairajan has the required qualification to be appointed as DME and quashed the appointment of Edwin Joe and directed the government to appoint Revathy as the DME and disposed the case.
