Monsoon management team formed in state
The state has appointed as many as 31 IAS officers to monitor as many districts to keep a tab on the preparedness ahead of North East monsoon, announced Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, while chairing the State Disaster Management Authority meeting on Monday, a release said.

The CM had instructed the officials to give thrust to dengue prevention while taking precautionary measures ahead of monsoon. Palaniswami had asked the officials to carry out awareness programmes and mock drills to coincide with the observation of the International Day for Disaster Reduction which falls on October 13.
The CM had instructed multiple-departments to expedite the risk reduction measures such as construction of flood carriers, evacuation shelters, setting up of State Disaster Rescue Force, and linking district control centres via video conferencing, while he reeled out the measures taken. While P Amudha was allotted Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur went to SK Prabhakar, Vellore to PWC Davidar, Cuddalore to Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Madurai to Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, Tiruchy to Rajeev Ranjan, Coimbatore to Harmander Singh, Nagapattinam to Sunil Paliwal, Tiruvarur to K Manivasan, and Villupuram to Atulya Misra, among others.
Chennai did not figure in the list of districts as it is understood the corporation would liaise with other agencies with regard to relief, if needed.
