CPI calls hike in liquor rates anti-people

CPI state secretary R Mutharasan on Thursday said the efforts of state government to increase the sale from liquor by about Rs 5 crore was shameful and alleged that the government was deviating from the prohibition policy.

Recalling that the AIADMK government had promised to bring prohibition in a phased manner, Mutharasan demanded that TASMAC staff should be given alternative appointments and the 7th pay panel recommendations should apply to those workers too. 

The decision to hike the prices of liquor is an anti-people policy, he added.
