Justice MS Ramesh who passed orders on a petition filed by SVS Kumar, seeking to transfer the probe to the CB-CID or CBI, directed the police to submit the probe report by October 27. He also directed the petitioner to appear before the police on October 23.
The petitioner had contended that Kamaraj had promised to evict an occupant from his property at Mylapore and took Rs.45 lakh as bribe through secretariat official Ramakrishnan in 2011. But thereafter nothing transpired and Kamaraj who had become Minister refused to part with the money he had paid.
He also alleged that he was being threatened by some unidentified persons following which he had to vacate his residence and move to a safer place with his family. He further submitted that based on his complaint the Mannargudi police had filed a case against the minister and the official on May 5.
But since then no further action had been taken leaving him with no choice but to approach the court.
