Additional facilities at GRH to tackle fever cases, says Collector

As more and more patients are testing positive for dengue, additional facilities are being added in the GH here, said Collector, K Veera Raghav Rao, on Tuesday. He said, “There are 87 testing equipment in GHs. Recently, 22 cell counters have been added. The unique feature of the machine is that the result can be obtained in a minute.”

The Collector said 6,217 workers have been instructed to carry out anti-dengue activities every day. In addition to this, 3,280 domestic breeding checkers have been involved in the operations. This has taken the total number of workers involved in anti-dengue measures in Madurai district to 9,497. 

“Interdepartmental teams have been formed and they were also working untiringly to control spread of dengue.” He said that officials are also periodically inspecting construction sites, dumping places and schools. 

Those premises which are found unclean or do not resort to any cleanliness measures are being fined, he pointed out. 

So far, this month, over 900 persons have been fined and a total of Rs 18.7 lakhs has been collected. In addition to these, anti-dengue activities such as fogging are also being carried out periodically.
