He said, “VCK cadre must behave in a civilised manner, even while commenting on the social media. They should not fall prey to those who incite them. We want to uphold civility and remain peaceful, but the acts of the BJP cadre are instigating the VCK cadre to move away from discipline.”
He alleged that the BJP activists had resorted to violence against the VCK cadre at Karur and Mayiladuthurai right in front of policemen and asked, “Whether the police department is under the control of the AIADMK government or the BJP?” Reiterating that the comments of BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan against him were derogatory, Thirumavalavan said his party cadre had only resorted to democratic protests against the derogatory remarks.
People of the state know who has been indulging in violence, he said.
The VCK leader, who had announced a protest against the BJP in Karur on October 31, declared another statewide protest to condemn the saffron party on November 3. He also asked party men to protest against kandhuvatti menace, GST and communal politics.
Reacting to a question, Thirumavalavan said he was not aware of the reason for Tamilisai’s animosity towards him. The CPM too joined him and charged the BJP cadre with indulging in atrocious activities and violence against VCK activists.
In a statement here, party’s state secretary G Ramakrishnan insisted that such violent activities should be stopped. He said the VCK activists had only held democratic protests condemning the ‘uncivilised remarks’ of Tamilisai, but the BJP men had unleashed violence against the protesting cadre.
