Addressing a public meeting held to celebrate the 46th founding day of the AIADMK, Sreenivasan said, “When there was dengue outbreak, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had sent Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam to New Delhi.
OPS too met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and had brought experts from the AIIMS to the state to tackle the dengue spread,” said the Minister. When he called former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister, instead of present PM Narendra Modi, there was a flutter in the meeting and party men started criticising the Minister for his speech. Sreenivasan’s speech had been widely criticised by political leaders.
Former Minister Dindigul I Periyasamy, while meeting the press in Dindigul, said that it was a shame that a Minister does not know who the Prime Minister is and said that even though Modi became the PM three and a half years ago, the Minister had not updated himself. This is not the first time Sreenivasan has landed into fresh controversy.
Recently, he was the first Minister to say that none of the Ministers or party functionaries had met former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, at the hospital and they had lied that she had taken idly.
