Addressing the media on his 63rd birthday, he said, “If I am given a job of running the government, you can blow the whistle against me too, if I do anything wrong. The digital platform would be ready in January”.
“A a military march or a train starts with a whistle. Anyone could blow the whistle,” he said and appealed to journalists to use the app for whistle blowing. However, he declined to answer questions on the kind of app stating that they were developing the application and beta testing had been done on it. “If I explain the whole concept to you now, some other people could copy it”. He said 20 people are working on it.
Explaining the name of the application, Haasan said, “My fans were initially described as little fellows who could only whistle in cinema theatres, but they had proved through their work during the past 39 years that they could serve the people.” Parties use the word ‘Murasu’ and ‘Sangu’ to describe their voice of propaganda, he said, apparently referring to DMK’s ‘Murasoli’ and MDMK’s ‘Sangoli. Similarly, whistle blowing would be the voice for justice, he explained.
The word ‘maiyam’ is derived from the journal, his fans club was publishing. The word ‘maiyam’ also refers to ‘centre’. “People often ask me if I am right of centre or left of centre. Most like neither to be in the right or left and want to be at the centre. The word maiyam will be liked by people,” he said.
