Angered at the callous attitude of Parthiban, inspector Andavar pulled him up for not being in uniform and coming late for duty to the station. This resulted in a verbal quarrel between the two. This angered Andavar, who lost his cool and gave a hard punch on Parthiban’s face. An infuriated SSI retaliated by hitting the inspector back.
As they entered into a fight, other cops intervened. While the SSI suffered a fractured nose, the inspector was injured on his cheeks. Both were treated as outpatients in the Mathur Government Hospital and then discharged.
Krishnagiri district Superintendent of Police D Mahesh Kumar ordered an enquiry into the incident. “The inspector has been transferred to the armed reserve force and action is yet to be initiated against the SSI. However, the SSI will also be punished for his unruly behaviour towards a superior,” said a cop.
Tension prevailed in the station for a while due to the fight between two cops right in front of other cops. A departmental enquiry is on.
