In a statement on Saturday, state youth wing leader and MP Anbumani Ramadoss said, “The Centre has made a lot of changes in the GST and tax on 178 goods has been reduced. Though this is a welcome move, what has been done is not enough.”
Stating that since the implementation of the GST, he had sought the Centre to reduce tax on crackers, grinders, matchboxes and garments, Anbumani said, “Even I met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and explained about the hardships faced by the common people due to the GST and finally it bore fruit.”
It is also a welcome move that the Centre has reduced tax on restaurants to 5 per cent from 18 per cent and tax on food items, drugs and agricultural accessory parts has also been reduced to 12 per cent from 18 per cent, he said.
