Unfazed Purohit vows to continue review of works

But the Governor brushed aside all criticism and vowed on Wednesday to visit more districts shortly. He said, “I will visit other districts too to inspect developmental works. I will also come here (Coimbatore) every year.” Meanwhile, DMK working president MK Stalin alleged that the Governor’s move was an attempt by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and the Governor to “take away the authority vested by the people” in an elected government. He said “TN is not  Puducherry.”

Defending the Governor, state BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan, in a tweet, said the meeting was only aimed at ensuring the state’s welfare and wondered why some people were “afraid, if good things happen” to Tamil Nadu.

AIADMK came out with conflicting views over the Governor’s action. While on one hand, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said the Governor had the power to review the Central government schemes in the state, party MP Anwar Rajha accused the saffron party of trying to rule TN through the Governor.

On Wednesday, Purohit took part in a session with entrepreneurs and NGOs. He said, “I initially thought Maharashtra topped in cleanliness. Only after visiting here did I realise that TN is better.”
