6 held during night patrol near Ambur
Six persons wanted in connection with several cases of chain snatching and robbery were arrested by the Ambur taluk police on Wednesday night.

Following the increasing instances of crime, Vellore district SP P Pagalavan ordered a drive against anti-social elements. Subsequently, police intensified patrolling during the night in Ambur Kaspa, bazaar area, new bus stand and the bypass road and arrested six persons.
The arrested were identified as Mani (45), Venketesan (31), Ravi (55), Jayavelu (49), Santhakumar (45), and Santhanam (23), all residing in different localities in and around Ambur town. All the six were remanded in judicial custody while further investigations are on. Meanwhile, the residents have welcomed the police action and lauded that such combing operations at frequent intervals could reduce the crimes in the town.
