Not every teacher, especially those working in government schools, may be proficient in English. Going through the documents that runs into more than 500 pages, can be time consuming, they said.
In fact, some government school teachers met on Sunday asking for an extension. However, officials from the school education department have confirmed that the draft will be made available in Tamil. “We will upload all the draft content in Tamil in a couple of days. The deadline will be extended by 10-15 days from that,” said a senior school education official.
The draft syllabus was made public on November 20. The government is getting the feedback from teachers and other stakeholders. Now that the content will be made available in Tamil and with the extended deadline, the teachers are glad.
