Chief Education Officer T Rajendran, who conducted an inquiry into the incident with students and teachers, has sent a report to the Director of School Education. Sources said as per the inquiry report, the alleged incident has been proved. The District Collector has ordered strict action against the school officials in connection with the incident.
In the shocking incident, the Principal of R M Jain Government Girls Higher Secondary School made girl students clean the toilets, without any protective gear. The incident sparked stern reaction from parents. The school has around 1,000 girls in classes from VI to XII. But it has toilets that could be used only by 20 persons at a time.
On November 24, the school principal summoned the class leaders and assistant leaders to her room and told them to clean the toilets. Even as the girls resisted, the principal threatened them with punishment if they did not do it.
The girls narrated their ordeal to their parents and said they were threatened with dismissal from the principal.
The girls finally cleaned the toilets using towels and sponge.
