“I have come to seek votes for ‘Two Leaves, the victorious symbol of our leader MGR,” Palaniswami appealed to the voters from an open jeep. He kept waving the plastic models of the symbol.
Recalling the schemes of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa for the constituency, he said she had unveiled several projects for the area. The people should vote the AIADMK candidate E Madhusudhanan on ‘Two Leaves’ for the continuance of the schemes and development of the constituency.
On the promises given by DMK working president MK Stalin for improving the infrastructure in the constituency, he said, the DMK had not done anything for the segment even when it was in power. Palaniswami recalled that Stalin had been the Deputy Chief Minister and Chennai Mayor and said no schemes were implemented to uplift RK Nagar.
Panneerselvam also stressed on the retrieval of ‘Two Leaves’ symbol and added that the candidate Madhusudhanan was familiar to the people of the constituency. He knows the area like the palm of his hand and he was serving the people whether in power of not, Panneerselvam said and asserted that the AIADMK candidate would continue the good works of Jayalalithaa.
However, former MP TTV Dinakaran did not launch his campaign as there were problems in obtaining police permission for it. His supporter P Vetrivel met Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni and submitted a complaint that the police were delaying permission to Dinakaran’s campaign. The police had not given permission for online campaign too, he added.
