Following the court verdict, the social media has been flooded with hate statements targeting Kausalya and her in-laws. Photos of the girl were also circulated widely on WhatsApp and Face book questioning her integrity.
“Some mentally unstable persons are circulating my photos with wrong comments. The cyber-crime police should take action against those spreading rumours against me with a malaifide intention,” she told journalists at her in-laws house in Kumaralingam near Udumalpet on Friday.
Sankar was hacked to death by a gang in Udumalpet at the behest of her father Chinnasamy on March 13, 2016. The girl, who hails from a dominant caste, survived the attack.
On Tuesday, six of the eight convicts were awarded capital punishment by a court in Tirupur district. Kausalya said she will continue her battle against caste groups and hate crimes until a law is enacted against honour killings.
Expressing apprehension about her safety, she said, “I fear they will kill me. Protection should be given to me and my in-laws family.”
Kausalya said she will move the court against acquittal of Annalakshmi and two others besides take up legal fight if others go for an appeal against the death verdict.
