A Raja’s supporters get ready for show of strength

According to one of the functionaries, Raja has a strong hold in his native Perambalur district and neighbouring Ariyalur. Ariyalur district secretary and former MLA SS Siva Sankar, Perambalur district secretary Kunnam C Rajendran and The Nilgiris district secretary Ramachandran had left for Delhi on Wednesday. Earlier, Raja was taking care of all the three districts. Moreover, several functionaries, including town secretaries, are already camping in the national capital.

It is also said that a section of the functionaries, who were working for the RK Nagar bypoll, left for Delhi on Tuesday from Chennai. The party men would stay there till the verdict is out and the large part of the expenses are said to be taken care of by the respective district units, a party source said. “We are confident that the verdict will be in our favour. It will be a show of strength for Raja in Delhi and we have planned for a mega road show there,” one of the functionaries said. There are also huge celebrations planned by the party cadre in Ariyalur and Perambalur. At the same time, the cadre have also planned to register their protest if the verdict is otherwise.
