The body of N Moorthi (33), of Kosur Natchikalathupatti village near Thogamalai in Karur district was traced on December 20 and the information was conveyed to his wife M Tamilarasi. She has also been informed that the body would be airlifted to Delhi where the army men would pay respects. It is said that it would be flown down to Coimbatore from there and then taken to the native village on Saturday.

Moorthi who was working in the Indian Army for the last 14 years, was posted at the Indian border at Kuresh in Bandhibora district of Jammu and Kashmir. His wife Tamilarasi was informed last week that her husband had disappeared in the heavy snowfall while they were on a routine patrol. Four more soldiers went missing since December 12.

The Tamil Nadu government on Friday announced that Rs 20 lakh solatium would be given to the family. Chief Minister K Palaniswami condoled the death of Moorthy. “I am grieved to hear the news of the demise of Sepoy N Moorthy and express my deep condolences to his family members”, he said in an official release.
