“Anybody can come to politics in a democratic country, and start a party. People are the first judgein a democracy and they script the history of the political parties. I greet dear brother Rajini for his entry into politics, as part of our Tamil culture,” Jayakumar said.
When asked about Rajini’s remarks on the bad state of affairs in Tamil Nadu, the Minister downplayed it as a generic remark, and not linked to AIADMK. “Rajini never referred any specific party in his speech, and it need not be AIADMK but could be the DMK. Whoever blames AIADMK would be countered with, and this includes the actor as well,” Jayakumar said.
The Minister also added that the actor’s entry would not make any impact on ruling AIADMK
party. “Our vote bank will remain intact and it will only thrive and not diminish by any
factor including Rajini,” Jayakumar said.
The minster clarified that the ruling party would react only when the policies of Rajini’s political party are made public. “Whether the people would accept it also remains to be seen,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jayakumar blamed RK Nagar MLA TTV Dinakaran of having shied away from the constituency since people who were promised Rs 10,000 for voting are on the lookout for
the legislator.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who addressed the media in Theni also replied in the same tone saying that any citizen of India can enter politics. He conveyed his New Year greetings to the people.
