Anubhuti Coach: A Pongal gift from Railways to Mysuru passengers
Chennai-Mysuru Shatabdi Express would run with an ‘Anubhuti Coach” from Friday, January 12. Announcing the same as “Pongal gift” to passengers, Southern Railway (SR) on Thursday said that ‘Anubhuti’ coach to be introduced in train no 12007/12008 Chennai Central–Mysuru–Chennai Central Shatabdi Express could be booked using the number 22007 and 22008 instead of 12007 and 12008.

Tickets in the coach with improved interiors, ergonomically designed seats and improved modular toilets with hands-free taps besides overhead reading lights for every seat, diffused LED lighting and GPS- based passenger system would cost 1.2 times of the executive class fare of Shatabdi trains.
Concessional tickets and free complimentary passes which are not fully reimbursed would not be allowed. in the coach and vacant seats at the time of first charting would be offered for current booking at 10% discount on last price.
Special train: Special fare special train would be operated between Madurai and Coimbatore to clear extra rush of traffic during Pongal. Train no:06083 would leave Madurai at 8.45am on January 13 and reach Coimbatore at 2.15pm the same day. Train no: 06084 will leave Coimbatore at 4.15pm on January 13 and reach Madurai at 9.45 pm at the same day.
Southern Railway has operated 1,221 special trains and earned an additional Rs 56.87 crore (51% increase compared to previous year) during April–December 2017, as against the 639 special trains operated and in the corresponding year, originating from Southern Railway to various destinations.
Out of these, 436 special trains were run towards south Tamil Nadu and 478 special trains towards Kerala and 307 special trains towards other destinations.
