Cracker units call off stir

A 25-day-long complete shut down of cracker units in Sivakasi ended on Friday after talks with state minister KT Rajenthra Bhalaji. Works would resume on Monday.

Based on a PIL, the SC banned sale of cracker in New Delhi during Deepavali.

However, later a study revealed that crackers were not responsible for the pollution in New Delhi. Based on the study, the members of All India Federation of Fireworks Association started indefinite strike demanding the SC to complete the case filed against cracker units at the earliest.
